Lou Pearlman, The Man Who Founded *NSYNC And The Backstreet Boys, Has Passed Away — And Reaction To His Death Is Mixed


Lou Pearlman, the man who founded *NSYNC, the Backstreet Boys, LFO, O-Town, and a variety of other teenaged-pop groups in the 1990s and 2000s, has died. He was 62 years old.


Pearlman, though, wasn't just known for launching the careers of young men like Justin Timberlake.

He was also convicted of fraud, and sentenced to 25 years in prison back in 2008 after taking part in a massive $300 million Ponzi scheme.

The controversial music mogul's cause of death was not revealed.

Upon hearing the news, the former teen charges that worked under Pearlman and achieved lasting fame and built their careers from the ground up, had mixed reactions.
